FREE COLLEGE
- Experience and participate in no cost dual credit high school and college nursing courses taught at Cedar Ridge High School.
- Gain real world skills such as time management, relationship building, and communication.
- Build a resume and work ethic through internships, job shadowing, and job training.
- Start college with up to 60 credits.
- Earn a high school diploma, college credit, a two-year post secondary certificate, or industry certification.
Graduating students will have the academic and professional skills required to either continue their education in a four-year post-secondary institution or enter into entry-level career.
P-TECH Nursing Prep Students:
- *are eligible for transportation services if they reside more than 2 miles from the Cedar Ridge High School campus and within Round Rock ISD. Stops can be up to 2 miles from a residence. Transportation is not available for Out-of-District transfers.
- will meet all requirements for promotion from eighth grade to ninth grade.
- must attend the freshmen orientation (Summer Bridge) program.
- understands that their high school and college coursework will not permit their participation in UIL sports and fine arts or any other activity that would interfere with their career-designed schedule.
- Students earn their high school diploma PLUS gain hands-on work experience as a licensed vocational nurse AND earn certifications, college credit or their Associate’s degree for FREE.
- Rising freshmen (current eighth-graders) District-wide interested in a career in nursing are encouraged to apply.

P-TECH Nursing Prep Early College High School
Pathways in Technology Early College High Schools (P-TECH) is a public-private partnership involving Austin Community College and and St. David’s Health Care that will prepare Round Rock ISD students for high-skill health science jobs as licensed vocational nurses (LVN).
Students in grades nine through 12 will experience a seamless high school and college coursework and workplace learning sequence where they will earn their high school diploma, industry based certification, a Level 1 or Level 2 certification and/or transcript college credit toward an Associate degree culminating in an A.A.S. degree at no cost.
Round Rock ISD’s LVN P-TECH program will open enrollment applications for rising District ninth-graders in the late Fall 2024 or early Spring 2025. Eighth-grade students from all 11 District middle schools who meet all requirements for promotion from eighth to ninth grade are eligible to apply. P-TECH Early College High School will be located at Cedar Ridge High School.
Students must pass all parts of the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) assessment before entering their sophomore year in order to take their ACC courses to continue in the program. Learn more about the Texas Success Initiative Assessment

Q: What support will I receive? How will I be supported for the courses?
A. There will be both ACC and Round Rock ISD opportunities. Students can access college support services and utilize the college library, professor office hours, and college tutoring center.
Q: Who teaches the nursing program courses?
A. ACC faculty will teach the LVN Nursing program when the course begins in the Junior year. During the Sophomore year, qualified high school faculty will teach their Med-Term, Student Success for Health Care Professions, and Pharmacology. The Biology Department faculty will teach BIOL-2401 and BIOL-2402 (A&P 1 and 2).
Q: What semester do I officially enroll as an ACC student?
A: Students will be officially enrolled on the ACC side in Spring 2025.
Q: What courses can transfer to a BSN degree?
A: All nursing program students must take BIOL -2401 & BIOL 2402. With the Associate Degree you will receive Microbiology will be a transferable credit.
